Palestine in 2024: The Role of Artistic Expression in Resistance

Abstract

In 2024, Palestine was exposed to intense attacks by Israel. In response, Palestine demonstrated an epic struggle against Israel in all fronts throughout the year. More effective defense strategies and diplomatic efforts emerged as the most significant components of this struggle. &is resistance was supported globally through countless marches, protests, sit-ins, conferences, panels, and symposiums. Compared to previous years, the Palestinian resistance gained much greater visibility in both traditional and social media. Israeli oppression was brought to the forefront through social media campaigns and hashtag movements. During this period, boycotts targeting Israel and companies supporting it naturally led to economic losses for those entities. Moreover, in 2024, the Palestinian resistance was reflected more intensely through artistic activities, proving to be a more effective medium than in previous years. &e struggle was rep resented across nearly all forms of art, including literary, visual, sensory, and cinematic arts, and even in less commonly used forms such as culinary arts in the context of social events. This study examines examples of Palestine-themed artistic activities in 2024 and analyzes their impact. &e aim of this section is to compile the artistic dimension of this struggle, which has been carried into social, political, academic, economic, and military platforms, focusing specifically on that year.
