China’s Perspective On The Palestinian Issue And Its Political Approaches in 2024

The Palestinian people, who have become refugees in their homeland and struggle to survive in a small area, are suffering greatly due to Israel’s endless wars on ideological and religious grounds. This ideological war is gradually mobilizing and destabilizing different dynamics in the region. The US’ failures in managing the problems in the region, its silence on Israel’s settlement expansion, and its loss of its neutral role as a mediator between the groups paved the way for other powers, such as China, to play an active role in the region. China, in particular, sees this region as strategic for realizing its regional and global investments and trade. Therefore, it considers the risk of the war escalating and spreading to the region against its national interests. In this study, China’s growing interest and role in the Palestinian-Israeli war and the Middle East is examined from political, economic, and geopolitical perspectives, and how China’s historical perspective on the Palestinian issue has evolved in 2024 is explained. The significance of the first meeting of Palestinian factions in Beijing, also known as the Beijing Declaration, and China’s multifaceted objectives will be elaborated.
